mom’s lace doilies

After dad died and we had to clean out the house and bring mom here, we had all her lace doilies and didn’t know what to do with them.  Studio!  these dishes are made by pressing her doilies into clay..

tried the peter pincus method.  very rudimentary on my part but interesting.  his work is pretty incredible.  You throw a pot on the wheel, cast it whole in plaster, then cut the mold on a band saw.  use colored slip to paint the mold on the inside.  The mold was a bit of a mess, but i did get it to work…
